Natural Occurence: E'aquarin, The whole of South Midheim
Arin’sanis(Slengt: "Spider, the helpful one") is a species of Spider that is found in South Midheim and E'aquarin, growing
3-10 cm big in South Midheim, while specimen of up to 15cm and even bigger sizes have been found in the country of the
Forestmother. It has yellowish colouring and 6 eyes which are situated in triangular shape on each side of
the head.
The spider is famous for weaving pyramid shaped webs, which emit a coloured light of little to medium
intensity, depending on the size of the spider; Spiders bigger than 7cm are usually big enough to weave
webs that can light a room of 3 by 3 meters. Colours can include blue, red, green and purple, while the
original hue was orange-yellow. Changes in colour patterns and the huge variation in size are due to the
use of the spiders as domesticated animals in South Midheim by Goblins, Orcs and most predominatly the Slengt
as well as in Equarin by the E'alven. In the former parts the Spider
is commonly kept in cages to deal with insects that are attracted by the often dim light, like mosquitoes
and the dangerous Nudur Fly. In South Midheim the spiders are bred and sold along other spiders by professional
Zern’arinis(Slentg: "Master of Spiders"). In Eaquarin the larger spiders are used to weave nets along trails and paths
to provide nightly lighting and is only rarely found in public places or housing.
The Arin’sanis eats all kinds of smaller insects and other spiders, including their own offspring. They hunt
alone when searching for a place to weave their net, while also building separate webs.
The Spider is active at night and reproduces in the morning hours after its hunt is over; a usual birth yields only a
couple of very sturdy eggs produce fast growing offspring which will sometimes try to take over the net of their mother
but most often leaves the net as soon as possible.
The Arin'sanis is non venomous to any known intelligent species, its bite can produce very painful bitemarks however.
There are known Arin'sanis colonies in the wild where dozens or even hundrets of Spiders weave their nets together.
Asir'Asa'kalasir(Slengt: "Starlight Web, the great one") is a giant Arin'sanis colonly consisting of a single
pyramid shaped Web which lies upside down in a Cave near the Slengt Zikkurat Kuzoa Nisa (Slengt: „Zikkurat of the Cleansed Tempels“).
of the Starlight Alliance. It is said to be of 25x25x20 Meters in Size and Height, yet few non Slengt have ever seen it.
In Slengt Culture saying "Asir'Asa'kalasir" or just "Asir'kalasir"(Sternenlicht, so groß) can be a means of expressing great and
psoitive surprise or shock.
